This office space has an off white clay mixture with small pieces of straw added for texture, he wanted a warm feeling but liked the look of the straw to give it depth.
As the light of the day moves through the room the small addition of the straw is visually pleasing as you move across the room. The plaster takes on a warm hue as the sun starts to set and the lights are turned on.
Bonny Doon Cob Residence
This residence in Bonny Doon is a 30ft round cob house that was completely built using the soil from the land. Because of the malleability of cob we were able to create beautifully curved walls and an alter for a focal point as you walk in.
The plaster mixture consisted of site soil, sand and small pieces of straw. We finished off the wall color with white Milk Paint. The plaster was applied by hand and smoothed without the use of trowels in this application.
West Cliff Residence
We completed plastering a 2500Sq/Ft residence on West Cliff in Santa Cruz with American Clay. The homeowners are very health conscious and allergic to a lot of conventional building products. American Clay was the perfect non toxic, earth friendly, perfect alternative to go green.
They wanted a Venitian plaster look and we were able to provide that with a “Porcelina” finish. The walls are silky smooth with hints of highs and lows from the beautiful light that comes through all the windows.
